Quito, March 6, 2017. - The International Airport Mariscal Sucre de Quito obtained third place among the airports in Latin-America and the Caribbean in the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards presented by the Airports Council International (ACI). This is the third year that the city’s airport receives the ACI award, after receiving second place awards during two consecutive years.
According to a press release issued by ACI, which is headquartered in Montreal, Canada, by participating in the ASQ program, “the large and small airports of the entire world demonstrate their commitment to providing an excellent experience to their customers.”
Each year, ASQ distributes 600,000 individual surveys in 41 languages, and in 84 countries. The surveys measure passenger opinion on 34 key performance indicators, including airport access, check-in, security clearances, bathrooms, retail, and restaurants. Each airport uses the exact same survey, creating an industry database that allows a comparison of airports to other airports around the world. The ASQ Program also facilitates the exchange of best practices among airport operators.

Meanwhile, Andrew O’Brian, president and director general of Corporación Quiport, thanked the passengers for once again having demonstrated their trust and satisfaction with the service that that they receive at the Quito International Airport. “We never lose our focus, in that a prize of this importance is not an end in itself, but rather, the result of the work of the entire team that provides services at the airport. He also explained that, in addition to “participating in ASQ allows us to share our experiences with other airports and learn from them at the same time. Therefore, beyond the ability to win an award, we are constantly seeking ways to surpass our quality standards and apply innovative solutions to benefit our travelers.”
The ASQ Awards are granted to such airports that have received the highest evaluations from passengers throughout the year. The categories have been designated to recognize the achievements of airports of different sizes and in various regions.
The ASQ Awards Ceremony will be held at the 27th Annual General Assembly, Conference, and Exhibit of ACI Africa and ACI World in Port Louis, Republic of Mauritius, from October 16 – 18, 2017.
